i have every one of the things you said to ideally shoot for but a lot of people are telling me that my computer is low end.. i really don't understand.

i got the 4gb ram
intel dual processor (almost)
a geforce 9800 video card
and the harddrive is like the lowest line but i havent had a chance to look into upgrading that yet.

everyone tells me that i need a 300 dollar video card and like a quad core and shit, do i really need this stuff?

Thankyou very much for this info. I have been searching for days for simple, easy to understand information that doesn't take an hour to go through. I am trying to decide which used computer to get my 10 year old grandson that will run mmorpg like 'roblox' without it freezing up or lagging all the time. Thankyou again and Merry Christmas
