How to Take Apart a Computer |

Taking the computer apart.
Shut down your system and unplug it from the electricity socket. If you have been using your system for a while, then it is better to let it cool down, at least for an hour before taking it apart. This step ensures that there are no remnants of electricity in the power supply. Also, do not forget to remove any of the peripheral devices connected to your system. Take of your shoes, so that you can ground yourself, electrically.
Remove the case of the system, by opening it. For different computers, this works in a different way. Few of the systems have screws that need to be removed, in order to open the case, whereas few of the systems have a latch that helps in opening the case. The motive of this step is to uncover the side panel, present in front of the motherboard. A motherboard is a large board, which has got a lot of components connected to it. If this is the first time that you are taking apart your system, then before taking apart anything, take pictures of the inside of your system. These pictures will be your reference when you try to put back your system.
Start by removing any cards, such as the LAN cards, wireless cards, sound cards, video cards that are attached to the various slots. Since, the cards are physically plugged into the slots, just pull them out, but make sure to look out for any screws that might be needed to remove first, before you can pull the cards out. Put the cards on a clean dry surface or in the anti static bags.
Next remove the memory sticks from the slots. The memory slots usually have a small latch on either side. Open both the latches, before you pull the memory sticks out. It is better to pull out the sticks, from one side, at a single time. Store the sticks safely. At this point, it is better to take few more snaps of the system, just to be on a safe side.
This time focus on the connections of the drives, the hard disk drives and the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screws and carefully remove the drives after removing all the connections.
Next carefully remove the heat sync, which is located on the central processor. After removing all the connections, carefully remove the motherboard from the CPU.
This completes the process of taking apart a computer. When trying to assemble back, refer to the pictures, this way, you will not go wrong!!
